A small Chinese porcelain dish (Jingdezhen) from the Kangxi period (1662-1722), Qing Dynastie.
An underglaze blue decoration depicting two chickens and two chicks likely playing with a worm, next to a banana plant. In the background a walled city. Some stylistic resemblance to the earlier “ko sometsuke” ware, Chinese porcelain for the Japanese market.
Thinly potted with a molded rim, moth-eaten rim edge (mushikui).
Turned into a charming bonbonniere by addition of a silver cow on a stem, stamped “IB4” (?), presumably Dutch and 19th century.
Dimensions: d. 11.2 cm; H 7 (inc. silver cow)
