A kintsugi-repaired kraak procelain bowl from the late Ming.
A medium sized bowl, made in Jingdezhen, c. 1635-50 (~Chongzheng period). Shape and body comply with Kraak characteristics, yet the decoration has adopted features typical of the Transitional style. The center has a landscape scene with houses and trees. There are panels with Iznik-like flowers alternating with panels depicting scenes with people and European houses.
Dimensions: H 10.2 cm, dia. 21.5 cm, dia. footring 8.8 cm.
See Plate 203, Page 164 in Rinaldi 1989 (Kraak porcelain – A Moment in the History of Trade) for a similar, yet larger, example.
