A wonderful late 17th-century Delft baluster vase (circa 1680–1700), professionally and reversibly converted into a table lamp.
Decorated in the fashionable chinoiserie taste in cobalt blue, featuring figures in a garden landscape, and attributed to an unidentified Delft workshop.
The vase retains its original character and patina. There is a small restored chip to the rim; the original cover is missing.
To restore the original silhouette, a wooden replacement cover (from an antique oak beam) has been made, incorporating a hinged E27 lamp fitting and fitted with a green velvet lampshade. This lamp conversion is fully reversible.
A highly decorative example of Dutch Delft faience from the late Golden Age period, adapted for modern use while preserving the integrity of the original object.
